The Redcat Ascent-18 APEX, a high-performance 1/18 scale brushless rock crawler built for serious RC enthusiasts who crave precision and power in a compact form. Building on the success of the original Ascent-18, the APEX features over 80% of its platform reimagined to deliver next-level crawling capability. At its core is a carbon fiber low center of gravity (LCG) chassis, engineered for exceptional strength and stability across technical terrain. The newly designed WIDE HS portal axles dramatically improve steering radius while increasing ground clearance, giving drivers the edge on steep and uneven surfaces.
Performance upgrades come standard, including overdrive gears, an optimized ring and pinion gear ratio, and strategically placed brass components such as the front outer portal boxes and differential cover to enhance traction and balance. Ball bearings throughout the drivetrain ensure smooth, efficient operation, while a 4kg metal gear micro servo provides precise control when navigating tough obstacles. Powering the APEX is a HobbyWing brushless motor system paired with a 3S 200mAh LiPo battery and a convenient USB charger—everything you need to hit the trails right out of the box.
The body arrives in a modular two-piece cab-only configuration, with an optional bed attachment for easy customization. The APEX combines rugged performance with refined styling. The Ascent-18 Apex features a carbon fiber low center of gravity chassis with aluminum bracing for balanced weight distribution. High Clearance Portal Axles

Ready-to-Run Setup
This crawler comes with a Hobbywing brushless motor and ESC, a metal gear micro servo, and beadlock wheels with aggressive 1.3-inch soft compound tires. The RTX-4C 4-Channel 2.4GHz Transmitter allows full control with adjustable trims and endpoints, while the 3S LiPo battery and USB charger make it ready to run right out of the box. Additionally, an optional two-piece body lets you run it as a cab only or add the included bed for extra customization.
